Are Poker Rooms Legal in Louisiana?

Poker rooms have been illegal in Louisiana since 1992. However, in September 2017, the Louisiana State Senate passed a bill that would legalize poker rooms in the state. The bill still needs to be approved by the Louisiana governor before it becomes law.

If it is approved, poker rooms would be allowed to operate with a state license and must adhere to some regulations, including limiting the amount of money players can wager per hour. There is no indication yet as to when this might happen.

While poker rooms might soon be legal in Louisiana, it’s important to keep in mind that they are still considered gambling establishments and are subject to all the same lAWS and regulations that apply to traditional casinos. This means that players should be familiar with all the rules and regulations governing poker rooms before entering one, and should also beware of any unscrupulous operators who may try to take advantage of them.
