Can a Casino Rig a Roulette Table?

Casinos are known for their elaborate and well-maintained roulette tables. Roulette is a popular game in casinos, and players typically bet on either the number that will be drawn or on the color of a particular number. Roulette is considered a skill game, meaning that there is a chance that the casino can manipulate the results of the game by changing the ball or wheel used. However, there is no evidence to suggest that casinos routinely rig roulette tables.

In fact, in most cases, it is impossible for them to do so. Roulette wheels have 36 numbered slots, and it would be virtually impossible for a casino to change the results of every single spin of the wheel. In addition, Roulette is a classic “house” game – meaning that the house (the casino) sets the odds in favor of its own players. This means that if a casino were to rig roulette, its customers would likely notice and begin to bet against it instead.
