Video blackjack is a popular casino game that combines the excitement and suspense of traditional blackjack with the excitement and suspense of video poker. Players are dealt five cards face down, and then must choose one card to turn over (the “up card”).
If the player’s card matches the up card, she is credited with a point. If the player has a better card than the up card, she loses the point value of her up card and any other cards she may have turned over.
The object of the game is to achieve a total score (in points) that is as close to 21 as possible. There are different ways to play video blackjack, but essentially all versions involve placing wagers on individual hands as well as making bets on the suit, rank and number of cards in each hand.
As in traditional blackjack, players can also “stand” (not take any action) if they believe they will not lose any more points by doing so.
There are a number of factors that can affect a player’s chances of winning in video blackjack. The size of her bet (and consequently her potential losses), her hand (whether she is holding an Ace high or low), and the dealer’s upcard can all make a big difference in how well she does in this popular casino game.
However, there is no guarantee that any given player will be able to win money at video blackjack – even experienced players can lose money if they don’t have good luck. That said, there is definitely money to be made playing this exciting casino game if you’re willing to put in the effort.
