Can You Split a Split in Blackjack?

Split card blackjack is a variation of the game that allows players to double their original bet if they have two cards of the same rank. Like regular blackjack, the player wins if they have an Ace or a Ten showing and lose if they have a two of a kind (two Aces, two Tens, etc.

). However, in split card blackjack, players can also win if they have two cards of the same rank that are not face cards (Jack, Queen, or King).

There are three ways to win in split card blackjack: doubling your original bet (assuming you have two cards of the same rank), picking up a free card (a Jack, Queen or King), or getting a total of 21. In all cases, the player’s initial bet is doubled.

Theoretically, splitting a split in blackjack gives the player an extra opportunity to win. If you have a split and draw both cards, you’re guaranteed to lose your original bet no matter what. But if you have a split and draw one card – either an Ace or a Ten – and then draw another card that’s not one of those two types (either another Ace or Ten), you’re still likely to win your original bet.

This is because adding up the values of both cards gives you more than 21 (a Jack plus an Ace equals 10; a Jack plus a Ten equals 15). So by splitting the split and drawing both cards, you’ve eliminated one of the two possible outcomes that would give you more than 21.

So in theory, splitting a split in blackjack can give you an extra chance to win your original bet – but it’s not guaranteed.
