Do You Say Hit Me in Blackjack?

In blackjack, a player is dealt two cards face down and must choose to either hit or stand. If the player chooses to hit, they must place their bet, and then the dealer flips over the other card. If the player chooses to stand, they skip this step and the next. The player then compares the two cards and decides if they want to keep the hand or hit.

If they hit, they either take the bet from their original bet or double it. If they stand, they lose their original bet plus the dealer’s wager. .

There are a few different outcomes that can happen when a player hits in blackjack:

If the player’s hand consists of two ten-valued cards (10s or Jacks), then they’re considered “standing” and will not lose anything by hitting.

If the player’s hand consists of an Ace and a nine-valued card (9s or 2s), then they are considered “standing” and will not lose anything by hitting.

If the player’s hand consists of an Ace and any other number, then they are considered “hit” and must place a new bet (unless they have insurance). In this case, their original bet is doubled and they keep both cards.

If the player has insurance (a card that will protect them in case of a loss), then they are considered “hit” and must place a new bet (unless they have insurance).

If the player does not have insurance, then their original bet is placed regardless of whether or not they hit. If their hand is still worth something after hitting (for example, if it contains at least one 10-valued card), then they can win back all of their lost bets by drawing to an inside straight (an unbroken sequence of 10s).
