Has a Woman Won the World Series of Poker?

In the history of the World Series of Poker, only men have won the main event. This year, however, a woman has made history by becoming the first female ever to win a WSOP bracelet, or first-place prize, in the $10,000 no-limit hold’em event.

The 42-year old Jennifer Harman became one of poker’s biggest winners when she bested a field of 2,614 players to take home the title and $269,527. Her victory comes as somewhat of a surprise, as Harman has only played in a handful of events at the WSOP over the past few years.

Nevertheless, her consistent play and sharp strategic mind have ultimately won her a well-deserved title at one of poker’s most prestigious events. Harman joins an elite group of men – such as Johnny Chan and Phil Ivey – who have won both the world championship and a WSOP bracelet.
