How Are Poker Chip Values Set?

When the poker chips were first created, their value was set at $1.00 per chip.

In the early days of poker, casinos would often give away free chips to new players in order to encourage them to gamble. As a result, the value of the chips decreased over time.

Today, poker chip values are typically set at a rate of about $2.50 per chip. This means that each chip is worth about 50 cents. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule.

For example, the Professional Poker Players Association (PPPA) chips – which are used in many high-stakes poker tournaments – are worth about $5.
