Blackjack Dealers Shuffle
Shuffling is a critical part of the blackjack game. It helps to keep the deck random and fair, and also ensures that each player has an equal chance of drawing a card.
There are two main ways that blackjack dealers shuffle the deck: manually and with an electronic shuffler. Manual shufflers are typically operated by hand, while electronic shufflers are more often used in casinos.
Manual Shufflers
Manual shufflers are typically operated by hand. The dealer inserts the deck into the machine, which then shuffles the cards automatically.
This is a slow process, so dealers often use manual shufflers for smaller decks (less than 52 cards).
Some manual shufflers have a timer that causes the cards to be mixed completely every few seconds. This prevents players from knowing what cards are left in the deck and gives them a better chance of drawing an unknown card.
However, manual shufflers can also cause corruption of the deck if they’re not handled properly. The dealer should always use two hands when handling the deck – one to hold it securely and one to shuffle it.
If the machine becomes jammed, dealers should unplug it and restart it from scratch.
Electronic Shufflers
The most common type of electronic shuffle is called an automatic card shoe. This machine uses sensors to detect when a player has placed their hand on top of the deck, and then automatically shuffles the cards.
This process is much faster than using a manual shuffle machine, so casinos usually prefer this type of shuffle for larger decks (more than 52 cards).
Many casinos also use automatic card shoe machines for single-deck games like blackjack, because it’s more accurate than using a human dealer. Automatic shoe machines are usually located near the table where players are playing.
