Calculating spread in blackjack is a bit more involved than simply adding the dealer’s and player’s totals. In fact, there are a few different formulas that can be used to calculate spread.
The most common method is to use the dealer’s total plus the player’s total divided by 2. This is called the “basic” or “simple” spread.
Another method is to use the dealer’s total minus the player’s total divided by 2. This is called the “plus” or “double” spread.
And finally, some casinos also offer a “triple” spread, which is calculated by adding the player’s total, the dealer’s total, and then 3/4 of that amount.
In general, it’s important to remember that the more complicated the spread, the higher the house edge will be. So if you’re looking to minimize your risk while still enjoying some extra edge in your blackjack game, go for a simple or double spread instead of a triple or plus spread.
