How Do You Play Roulette Smart?

An anecdote from my own personal experience playing roulette: I was playing at a casino in Atlantic City and I was in the mid-aughts, so blackjack was still a popular game. The dealer was giving me good odds on blackjack so I decided to switch over to roulette.

But before I could start betting, the dealer asked me if I wanted to play blackjack first or roulette first. Roulette sounded like a fun game, but I didn’t want to get stuck in a losing streak if I lost money on blackjack.

So I decided to play blackjack first. .

I won $2,000 that night playing blackjack and ended up losing $2,000 playing roulette. But that’s not what this article is about.
The takeaway from my story is that it’s important to play your favorite games in order of preference – roulette last.

Roulette is a game of chance, so there’s always the chance that you’ll lose no matter which game you play first. But by playing blackjack first, you can limit your losses and have a more positive experience overall at the casino.
