In blackjack, hydraulic jacks are used to improve the odds in the player’s favor. When a player hits a jack, the dealer must replace the card with another from the deck.
If the player had previously placed a bet on any number other than a jack, then that bet is forfeited and the dealer keeps the original card. If the player had placed a bet on a jack, then that bet is paid out and the original card is replaced.
The use of hydraulic jacks allows players to “push” or “pull” cards from the deck in order to improve their chances of hitting a jack. For example, if a player is dealt an eight-card hand and wants to hit a jack, they can push two cards to the front of the deck and then draw one card.
This will give them five cards to play, including the jack, which gives them a much higher chance of winning.
