How Do You Weatherize Mail Slots?

Mail slots are a common and often overlooked piece of home weatherization. When weatherized, mail slots can help keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

To weatherize mail slots, you’ll need the following:

– A screwdriver
– A drill
– Mail slot covers (optional)
– Nails or screws (depending on the type of cover)
– Sandpaper or a file
– Spray paint (optional)

To weatherize a mail slot, first remove the door knob. If you’re using a cover, remove the screws that hold it in place. Once the door knob is removed, use the drill to drill a hole in the bottom of the door jamb near the mail slot. This hole should be slightly larger than the screw used to hold the cover in place.

Next, use the screw to attach the cover to the jamb. Make sure that it’s tight so that water will not leak into the mail slot. Finally, use sandpaper or a file to smooth out any rough edges on the cover.
