How Does a Roulette Machine Work?

A roulette machine works by spinning a wheel with 36 slots, each of which holds six red or black chips. The player inserts money into the machine, selects a bet amount, and clicks a “Bet” button. The roulette wheel then starts to spin and the player watches the numbers fall down the wheel, one at a time. When the number in the slot corresponding to the player’s bet falls to the bottom of the wheel, that chip is inserted into a payout slot next to it.

If the player’s bet was for two chips, for example, two chips would be inserted into each payout slot. The player then watches as all 36 chips are inserted into their respective payout slots. If the player’s bet was for five chips, for example, five chips would be inserted into each payout slot. The roulette wheel then stops spinning and displays the player’s winnings on an overhead screen.
