The basic strategy for playing blackjack is to try and achieve a winning combination, or run, as quickly as possible. The dealer also has an overriding goal of trying to keep the player from achieving a winning combination.
The dealer’s strategy is simple: deal the cards face down until either the player or the dealer has a blackjack, then turn over the next card. If the next card is a jack, the dealer stands and offers another round of play; if it’s not a jack, the dealer plays another card and turns over the new hand.
The player’s strategy is also quite simple: try to achieve as high a score as possible by hitting on 21 or higher; avoid getting stuck with a low score and losing. There are various ways to win blackjack, but the basic strategy remains largely unchanged.
