In blackjack, players are dealt one card face down and one card face up. The player then decides whether to “stand” or “hit.” If the player stands, the next card is turned over, and the player’s hand is renewed. If the player hits, the next card is not turned over and the hand is terminated.
The dealer then deals another card to each player, face down. The game is over if any player has an Ace of Spades (10), two Aces (Ace of Spades and Two Aces), or a Ten (10) in their hand. .
In most cases, players start off with a minimum of 21 cards. However, in some casinos it is possible to start with as few as 18 cards.
In this case, the dealer would be dealing face down 18 cards and then turning over one more card at the beginning of each round for a total of 19 cards. This rule applies only to low-stakes blackjack where the house edge is typically less than 1%.
