In poker, the player with the best hand (the best combination of cards) is the winner. The best hand is five cards of the same rank (two pairs, a flush, and a full house).
If two players have the same hand, the player with the lower card rank (the smaller number) is the winner. So, in most cases, the player with the Lowest card rank starts the game.
However, there are exceptions to this rule. If two players are equal in rank, then the player who played first begins play with a better hand than their opponent.
And if all players have an equal hand (five cards of any rank), then no one starts play and the game is a draw.
So how many cards do you start with in poker? Most people start with five cards, although some play with four and a few play with only four cards.
