When playing blackjack, it is important to know how many decks are used. A standard deck of cards contains 52 cards.
While some casinos may use more or less cards, a typical deck contains 21 black cards and 20 red cards. The Ace of Spades is the highest card in the deck and counts as 1 point while the two Lowest cards, the Two and Three of Spades, count as 0 points each.
In order to play blackjack using a standard deck, players must remove one card from their hand each time they are dealt a new hand. If a player has two or more cards that total 10 or more points, they are considered to be “kicked,” and must either discard all of their current holdings or stand (continue playing) and place another bet.
When playing with a multiple deck blackjack table, each player is dealt a specific number of hands according to their rank at the table (1-5). For example, if you are playing at a five-card table with an ace high hand ( Ace of Spades, Two of Spades, Three of Spades, Four of Spades, Five of Spades), then you would be dealt five hands (two hands with an ace in them and three hands without).
The dealer also deals one additional hand which is always face down. This “hole card” is used to determine whether the player loses or wins on any given hand. .
Because each table is different and has its own rules, it is important to consult the rules before playing so that you are aware of any special considerations that may apply. For example, some tables may only allow players to win if they have a flush or straight draw; others may only allow players to lose if they have two pairs or three of a kind.
