How Many Decks of Cards Are Used in Blackjack?

There are 21 cards in a deck of playing cards. In blackjack, each player is dealt two cards face down and one card face up. The first player then turns over the top card of their deck, which is their “hand” (or “up card”).

If this card equals the number shown on the player’s hand (or on the face up card if that is the player’s sole up card), then that player is “bankrolled” and has won that round of blackjack. If the number shown on the player’s hand does not equal the number on the player’s “up card”, then that player loses that round of blackjack. .

If both players have an up card, then the next card turned over is used to determine who goes first in that round of blackjack. If there is a tie for first place, then a randomly chosen player goes first in that round.

After each player has gone through all their cards, another round of blackjack begins with new hands being dealt. The game continues in this manner until one player either wins or loses all of their rounds and falls out of the game.

A standard deck of playing cards contains 52 cards – two Jokers and one Ace. So, in Blackjack, each Deck contains at least 21 cards (the Jokers plus Ace).

Some decks contain more than 21 cards, while others contain less.
