How Much Does Insurance Pay for Blackjack?

Insuring blackjack players is a difficult task, as the game has a high volatility. A study from card counting researcher Dr. Seth Schorr found that over the long term, blackjack hands in Vegas are worth an average of 1.1 percent more than hands played in other states.

That said, one should expect to pay a higher premium for blackjack in Las Vegas than elsewhere. One study found that the average Las Vegas blackjack player pays $5.53 in insurance premiums per hour of play, while the national average is $2.99.
