How Much Is an Online Casino License?

Casinos have long been a popular way to gamble, but the legality of online gambling has been a topic of debate. In 2006, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) issued a directive stating that only licensed casinos could offer online gambling.

However, in 2011, the DGE rescinded this directive, allowing any company to offer online gambling if they obtained a license from the state.

To obtain a license from the New Jersey DGE, an online casino must meet several requirements. First, the casino must have a physical location in the state. Second, the casino must have a minimum net worth of $5 million. Third, the casino must have a general manager and chief financial officer with at least five years experience in gambling operations.

Fourth, the casino must have security measures in place to protect customers’ money and personal information. Fifth, the casino must have procedures in place to handle complaints from customers. Finally, the casino must agree to comply with all other state regulations.

In 2012, GVC Holdings LLC became the first company to obtain a license from New Jersey to offer online gambling. Since then, several other companies have obtained licenses from the DGE.

As of 2016, there are over 20 licensed online casinos operating in New Jersey.
