Each hand of blackjack is played with a deck of 52 cards. The player bets on the number of cards they think will be drawn.
The dealer then drAWS cards until they get to 18, at which point the hand is over and the player either wins or loses their bet.
There are several different ways to play blackjack, but the most common is called “basic strategy” where you aim to have as many cards as possible equal to or higher than the dealer’s bet (Ace through Two), while avoiding cards that are lower than the dealer’s bet (Three through Ten). There are other variations, like “counting blackjack” which tries to guess how many cards the dealer will draw, and “street blackjack” which is played in a casino and features more colorful and exciting tableaux than basic strategy.
The bottom line when it comes to blackjack? It’s all about strategy – there’s no one right way to play. If you’re comfortable with basic strategy and want to try some other variations, go for it! But don’t overspend – even if you’re using basic strategy correctly, you can still lose money if the dealer has a good hand.
