How Often Should You Fold in Poker?

Poker is a game of skill and chance. The object of the game is to win as many hands as possible by making better hands than your opponents, and by bluffing when necessary.

There is no set amount of folding that is “correct” in poker. However, there are a few general principles that should be followed when folding:

1) Always remember that you are playing against other human beings, not casino machines. If you think that you may be holding a bad hand, it is often best to fold rather than risk losing it all.

2) Don’t overfold. If you have a mediocre hand, folding often will not improve your chances of winning.

In fact, it may actually make your situation worse by decreasing the amount of money you will receive for your bet.

3) Try not to fold too early in a hand. This can give your opponents an opportunity to steal the pot with better hands.

Wait until the last possible moment to fold, or if you have a very weak hand, then make a small bet and hope for the best.
