Lawrence kept her private life very private until 2014 when she decided to open up about her experiences with mental health. In an interview with Elle, Lawrence spoke about how she dealt with her depression and anxiety by playing poker.
“I don’t think it’s a mistake to say that poker saved my life,” Lawrence said. “It’s given me hours and hours of happiness and relief that I wouldn’t have had if I hadn’t found that game.”
It was recently reported that Lawrence was in the poker house when she was allegedly assaulted by a former intern. The age at which Lawrence was in the poker house has not been released, but it is speculated that she was around the age of 19 at the time.
