Is 2 Aces a Blackjack?

The answer to this question is a little more complicated than one might think. In blackjack, two aces (A,10) is not considered a blackjack, but rather three aces (A,9,8) is. There are a few reasons for this. The first is that three aces is seen as a significantly better hand than two aces.

The second reason is that the house edge on two aces is 0.5 percent, while the house edge on three aces is 0.72 percent. Finally, the rule of thumb in blackjack is that any hand that has an advantage over the dealer (in terms of either card value or number of cards) is considered to be an advantageous hand.
