Is an Ace a 1 in Blackjack?

One of the most popular casino games is blackjack. In this game, players attempt to beat the dealer by counting cards and making better bets when they have an advantage.

The game is played with a standard 52-card deck. Aces are worth 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

The face value of a card is its rank in sequence, with the Ace at the top of the deck.

In blackjack, an ace can be either a high or a low card. If it’s high, it counts as one point against the player.

If it’s low, it counts as zero points against the player.

A player who has an ace and a two-card total of 21 (a “natural”), for example, would count as follows: The ace would be counted as 1 point (worth 1 in blackjack), and the two would be counted as 11 points total (2 + 1 = 3).
