Is Blackjack a Martingale?

Blackjack is a casino game where the player attempts to achieve a higher total score by betting more money than the dealer. The game is considered a form of gambling and as such, some casinos may not allow players to play blackjack if they are considered to be high-risk players.

A martingale is a betting system where the player bets more money each time their original bet loses value. A martingale is considered risky because if the player loses more money than they have bet, they may not be able to recoup their losses.

Blackjack is not a true martingale because the dealer cannot force the player to put more money in the pot if their original bet loses value – the player’s final bet is determined by their hand and not by how much money they have put in the pot previously. In theory, this should make blackjack less risky than a true martingale system, but in practice, it can still be risky for high-risk players.
