Is Blackjack Profitable for the House?

Casino blackjack is a popular casino game that pits players against the dealer. The object of the game is to score as many points as possible by hitting the dealer’s face (or “jack”) while avoiding being hit by the dealer’s cards.

Points are awarded for hitting the jack, and deducted for being hit by the dealer’s cards.

Blackjack is a game of strategy and chance. The strategy part comes down to knowing when to hit and when to hold back, while the chance part comes down to the fact that blackjack is a ‘hit or miss’ game.

That means that even if you play perfectly, you may still lose money if the cards are in favour of the house (the casino).

However, given that blackjack is such a popular game, it’s usually considered profitable for casinos to offer games with slightly higher house edges (i.e. where the casino makes more money than it pays out).

This means that, on average, blackjack is still a profitable game for casinos.
