Is Craps and Roulette the Same?

Craps and roulette are both casino games where players bet on the outcome of a random event. The main difference between the two games is that in roulette, the player bets on all six possible outcomes (zero, one, two, three, four, and five), while in craps, the player bets on only one outcome – either a “pass” (if rolling a six) or a “donkey” (if rolling a two or eleven).

Despite these differences, many people believe that craps and roulette are essentially the same game. This is because both games involve betting on random events, and the results of each game can be quite similar.

For example, in roulette, the probability of each outcome is about even (50/52), while in craps, the probability of each outcome is slightly tilted towards the “donkey” (about 53 percent versus 47 percent). However, because both games involve different odds and outcomes – and thus provide different gambling opportunities – players should always consult casino floor rules before playing either game.
