In 2014, the World Series of Poker announced that it was ending its longstanding relationship with High Stakes Poker (HSP). At the time, many speculated that this was a sign that HSP – which had been around since 2003 – was on its final legs.

Fast forward to 2018, and it seems as if those fears were well founded. In early July, HSP abruptly announced that it would be shutting down its operations effective immediately.

This comes as a huge blow to the poker community, as HSP was one of the most popular and well-known high stakes events in the world.
