Effective July 1, 2009, MGM Resorts International, Inc. (“MGM”) eliminated all free play and progressive bonuses from its slot machines in its casinos.
This change applies to all MGM properties, including the company’s flagship property, the Mirage.
While some players may have been accustomed to receiving free spins or other benefits after making a qualifying deposit, now all players must wager a minimum deposit of $5 per game in order to receive any benefits at all.
In general, most slot machines offer fixed payouts that increase the more you play them. However, at MGM properties there is no free play and no progressive rewards.
Players are only rewarded for their wagers if they win money. This change was likely made in order to attract new players and improve the overall profitability of the casino.
