Is Poker Face a Sample?

Poker Face is an electronic dance music track by Dutch DJ and record producer Martin Garrix. It was released on 14 October 2017 as the lead single from his fifth studio album, Flamingo.

The song peaked at number one on the US Dance/Electronic Songs chart and number two on the UK Dance Chart.

Garrix has stated that the song is about a girl who “doesn’t want to show her emotions” and “keeps her poker face all the time”.

The song has been met with generally positive reviews from music critics, who praised its catchy melody and dance-friendly beats. Some reviewers also called it a return to form for Garrix, following a few lackluster releases.

However, some reviewers criticized the song for its lack of lyrical depth.

At the 61st Grammy Awards, Poker Face was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Song but lost to Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey’s Anatomy’s Die Young by The Chainsmokers.
