What Are the Cards in Blackjack?

There are 52 cards in a deck of playing cards. The Ace is the highest card and the King is the Lowest card.

The face cards (jacks, queens, and kings) are also considered high cards. The other face cards (2 through 10) are considered low cards.

The standard deck of playing cards is divided into two types: suits and ranks. Suits are clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades.

Ranks are Ace through 10. A hand of blackjack is played with a standard deck of 52 cards.

An Ace is worth one point and each successive rank (2 through 10) is worth more than the rank before it (Ace through 2). For example, an Ace-two is worth two points, an Ace-three is worth three points, and so on up to a Ten-two which is worth twenty points.

A face card (Jack, Queen, or King) counts as either a high or low card, depending on its position in the deck. For example, a Jack-two counts as a high card and a Jack-ten counts as a low card.
