Casinos with $5 blackjack offer a lower limit than some of their competitors, but the games can still be quite entertaining. The games are played with a standard 52-card deck, and each player starts with two cards. Aces are high-card values, 2 through 10 are low-card values, and a Jack, Queen or King is equal to any other card. The object of the game is to make as many total points as possible. If the player has an Ace and a 10 or higher card, they automatically win the hand. If the player has any other combination of cards, they must either hit or stand.
If they hit, they get to keep the card that was turned over in their hand (or else discard it if it is a Jack), and then draw another card. If they stand, they lose their original two cards and draw another. The next player then takes their turn, and so on until somebody loses a hand or somebody hits 21 (a blackjack). Blackjacks pay 2 to 1 on any bet size up to $5, while 21 pays 3 to 2.
