What Did Ada Blackjack Do?

Ada Blackjack was born in 1849 in New York City. She was the first woman to earn a law degree from Columbia University.

She also became the first woman admitted to the New York bar in 1875.

Blackjack was an accomplished lawyer and advocate for women’s rights. She fought for women’s right to vote, equal pay, and access to education and employment.

In 1892, she became the first woman elected as a judge in the state of New York.

Blackjack died in 1922, but her legacy lives on through her work advocating for women’s rights and her contributions to the legal field.
