What Does the Nickname Blackjack Mean?

The nickname blackjack means “a card game in which the player bets against the dealer, who is trying to draw a higher card than the player.” The game is usually played with two decks of cards, and the player bets either on the rank of the card or on its suit. The dealer starts by drawing two cards, then hands one to the player and one to the banker. The player then either bets on the rank (e.g., 3 or 4), on the suit (e.g., clubs or hearts), or on both (usually called “tie”).

If the player bets on both, they must choose one bet before drawing another card. If they tie, they both win. If they bet on only one, they must draw another card and re-bet if necessary. Blackjack is a popular casino game and can be played for money or for points in many variations.
