What Is a 5 Card Poker Hand?

In poker, a five card hand is a specific type of poker hand consisting of five cards, not including the two jokers. In five card poker, any hand with at least two cards of the same rank is considered to be a five card hand.

A five card hand has a rank and suit, and can be either good (high), bad (low), or mixed.

The highest ranking card in a five card hand is the Ace, followed by 2 through 10. The Lowest ranking card is the Two, followed by Jack, Queen, and King.

The suit of a five card hand does not matter. For example, in a hand of hearts, the Ace would be high (in spades), 2 would be low (in clubs), 3 would be medium (in diamonds), 4 would be low (in hearts), and 5 would be low (in spades).

A five card hand can also contain any combination of cards from any one or more of the four suits. For example, in a hand of clubs, 2 could be high (in clubs) and 3 could be medium (in diamonds).
