What Is a Poker Shootout?

Poker Shootout is a poker variant where players compete against each other in a heads-up match. The winner is the first player to accumulate a predetermined number of chips, typically 10,000.

In some variants, the shootout may be extended to 30,000 or even 50,000 chips. .

The shootout is often used as a final stage of a tournament or cash game. It can also be played as a side event at poker tournaments.

The object of the shootout is to win as many chips as possible in a fixed amount of time. The game is typically played for money, with each player starting with an equal amount of chips.

The first player to accumulate 10,000 chips is the winner. If both players accumulate 10,000 chips at the same time, the player with the most recent hand(s) wins the hand and advances to the next round.

If both players have 9,999 or fewer chips at the end of their last hand(s), then the player who lost their most recent hand(s) loses all their chips and that player is out of the shootout.

In some variants, if there are still two or more players remaining in the shootout after all other players have been eliminated, then these remaining players play until one player has accumulated 10,000 chips.
