What Is a Split Blackjack?

A split blackjack is a variant of blackjack that allows players to split their hand into two pairs, with each player receiving two cards. The objective is to achieve a higher total than the dealer, who must also achieve a higher total than the player with the Lowest total.

Players may either keep their original cards or discard one card from each pair and draw two new cards. If the player’s combined total is lower than the dealer’s, the player wins.

If the dealer’s combined total is lower than the player’s, then the dealer wins.

The splits are decided before hands are dealt, and there is no cutting for low hands. The Ace can be counted as either a face card or a 10 (as long as it is not paired with another Ace), but all other cards are standard.

Split blackjack is most commonly played in European- style casinos, where it offers an increased chance of winning compared to single-hand blackjack because it effectively doubles the player’s chances of hitting a royal flush or a straight flush.
