What Is a Split in Blackjack?

When two players share the same hand, they are said to have a split. In blackjack, a split is typically the result of a natural split.

This happens when the first two cards drawn by one player are both equal to 10, or aces. In this case, the player either gets an even split of 2 cards (a Hit and a Flush) or they get two jacks (a Straight and a Jack).

When one player has two 10s and the other has two jacks, it is called a split. It’s important to remember that this doesn’t always mean that both players will end up winning.

It’s possible for either player to lose if the dealer busts and both players have a 10.
