What Is an AP in Blackjack?

An ace is the highest card that can be played on the blackjack table. It’s worth ten points, so if you have an ace in hand, it’s best to hold onto it – especially if you’re playing against a dealer who’s dealt you a high-card hand.

In general, the house advantage in blackjack is about 2.7 percent, so by holding onto an ace you’re essentially giving your opponent a free ten points every time you hit.

Playing without an ace can be a risky proposition, as even a single Ace can turn a poor hand into a winning one.

But there are times when it’s worth risking everything – for example, if you’re playing against a dealer who’s dealt you two Aces. In that case, an ace can be worth up to thirty points, which means that even if you only end up with two Aces in your hand (instead of the traditional one), you’ll still have gained valuable points by playing them.
