What Is Flop and River in Poker?

Flop and River in Poker

In poker, the flop is the first three cards of the deck. The flop is considered to be the most important part of the hand, as it determines how many cards the player will get to see (and potentially put into play) during the rest of the hand.

The flop includes both the top card and two face down cards.

The river is the fourth and final card of the deck. It can be either good or bad for the player, depending on what has been played thus far.

For example, if a player has a high-card (a ten or a Jack), then playing the river will likely give them more information about what card is coming next. If, on the other hand, a player has a low-card (a two or an Ace), then playing the river may not provide them with any additional information.
