Blackjack is a popular casino game that is played with a deck of twenty-two cards. The object of the game is to score as many points as possible by taking cards to make a total of 21 or higher.
There are several variations of blackjack that are played around the world, but the most common form is called standard blackjack.
In standard blackjack, the player starts by putting any number of chips into the pot. The dealer then selects one card from the deck and sets it face down in front of them. The player then selects one card and looks at it. If the card is higher than the number on the selected card, the player can either keep that card or put it back into their hand and draw another card.
If the number on the selected card is lower than the number on the original chosen card, then the player must put that card back into their hand and draw another card. The player can also choose to “stand” (keep) if they believe they have a good hand.
If the player gets a 21 or higher, then they “score” (win) the hand and receive all of their original chips back as well as any additional chips that were put in by other players during the round. If the player gets a less than 21, then they “lose” (pay) whatever chips are in their hand as well as any additional chips that were put in by other players during the round.
