Russian Roulette is a 1975 American psychological thriller film directed by Nicolas Roeg and written by Donald E. Westlake.
The film stars James Caan, Jacqueline Bisset, John Leguizamo, and Peter Boyle. It tells the story of a group of friends who each take turns playing Russian Roulette with a handgun while betting on who will live and who will die.
The film was conceived by Westlake after he read an article in Life magazine about an incident in which a gambler playing Russian Roulette won $200,000. He developed the story with Roeg, who was impressed by the script and decided to direct it.
Filming took place over a period of eighteen days in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The production designer was John Milius and the cinematographer was Roger Deakins.
