Once all players have made their hands, the player with the highest ranking hand takes all the chips in front of them and becomes the new dealer. The next round begins with each player betting one chip into the pot. The bet increases by one chip for every additional card in a player’s hand. For example, if a player has an Ace in their hand, they would place one chip into the pot and bet two chips.
If they had another Ace in their hand they would place three chips into the pot and bet four chips. Betting continues in this fashion until all players have bet their chips into the pot or no more bets can be made due to lack of funds or unsuitable hands. .
In case there is no winner after several rounds have been played – which usually happens when there are too many unsuitable hands – then the last player remaining in the game starts to play blind – meaning they don’t see what cards their opponents are playing – and everyone else retires their chips to begin again from scratch with new funds.
As can be seen from Casino Royale’s poker scene, there are many different hands that can be played depending on what cards are drawn from the deck. This variability makes poker an interesting game to watch and play, as it always feels like something new may happen when each hand is played out.
