An Illustrated Guide to the Bad Hand
In poker, a “bad hand” is any hand that is not a natural hand. A natural hand is any five card hand with two face cards and three other cards. A bad hand is one that does not have at least one natural card. There are a variety of bad hands, but the most common ones are called “low hands.
” Low hands are hands with no Aces, no Kings, and no Queens. They can also include two pairs (two cards of the same rank), two triples (three cards of the same rank), or a straight (five cards in sequence from ace to two).
When playing poker, it’s important to be aware of the different types of bad hands so that you can adjust your strategy accordingly. For example, if you’re playing heads-up against another player, you’ll want to fold if you’re dealt a low hand like an Ace-high straight.
If you’re playing in a multi-player game, it’s important to try to protect your good hands (ones with natural cards) by calling bets when opponents bet on low hands.
