Which Way Does the Roulette Wheel Spin?

Roulette wheels are typically made of metal with a number of small, sharp, circular blades or paddles on the inside. When the wheel is spun, the blades or paddles cause the ball to move around and hit one of 36 pockets at random.

The wheel is usually divided into three sections, or “houses.” The first section has black numbers from 1 to 18, the second has red numbers from 19 to 36, and the third has green numbers from 37 to 46.

The ball is placed at the “0” spot in the first house and the player can bet on any number between 1 and 36. If the player bets on a number that’s already been chosen by another player, their bet will be lost.

If the player bets on a number that’s not in any of the houses, their bet will be placed in one of four pots – two for black numbers, one for red numbers, and one for green numbers. After each spin of the wheel, a pot is filled based on which number was chosen.

If two or more players choose the same number, then the pot is split evenly between them.
