Who Is BlackJack Fletcher?

BlackJack Fletcher is an American singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known as the frontman of the alternative rock band The Paper Kites. Fletcher was born on October 21st, 1978, in Fort Worth, Texas. He grew up playing the guitar and writing songs with his friends. In 2001, Fletcher formed The Paper Kites with bassist Brett Gurewitz and drummer Josh Freese. The Paper Kites released their debut album, “Leave the City,” in 2002. The album was praised for its catchy hooks and aggressive sound. The band toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe in support of the album. In 2003, Fletcher released his solo debut album, “Lonely Nights.” The album featured guest appearances from Gurewitz and Freese. “Lonely Nights” was also well-received by critics. In 2005, Fletcher released the EP “The Sun Comes Out Tonight.” The EP featured five tracks that were reworked versions of tracks from “Lonely Nights.” In 2006, Fletcher released his second solo album, “The Invisible Country.

” The album was a departure from the indie rock sound of “Lonely Nights” and featured a more soulful style. In 2007, Fletcher released the collaborative album “Two Suns” with singer-songwriter Matthew E. White. The album featured original songs written by Fletcher and White along with covers of songs by artists such as Elvis Presley and Stevie Wonder. In 2010, Fletcher released the independent album “The Great Divide.” The album was a return to his roots as a guitarist-songwriter and featured collaborations with Gurewitz and Freese. In 2013, Fletcher released theEP “Black Jack Blues.” The EP featured five tracks written by Fletcher in collaboration with producer John Congleton (The National, Bon Iver). In 2014, Fletcher signed to Wichita Recordings and began recording new material for a new Paper Kites record. In 2015, he announced that he had left Paper Kites to focus on his own music career full-time. In 2017, Fletcher released his third solo album,, “Songs From Another Room.” The album features guest appearances from Gurewitz, Freese and White as well as production from Congleton.
