One common type of fuse tap is made with two slots, one on the top and one on the bottom. This design is intended to allow the tap to be easily inserted and removed from the fuse box.
The top slot is for the fuse itself, and the bottom slot is for the cover. When installing a new fuse tap, you first remove the old tap from the box, then insert the new tap into the top slot.
You then fit the cover over the top of the tap and screw it into place. Finally, you screw in the bottom slot. .
This design is intended to make it easy to change out a fuse without having to remove the whole tap from the box. If you have a single-slot fuse tap, you’ll have to remove both the cover and the fuse itself in order to change it out.
