There are a few reasons why you might never want to split a king in blackjack. The most obvious is that it would give you a much better chance of losing the hand. If you have two kings, for instance, and the dealer hits an ace, you’re now dealt two more kings.
This means that your total bet (before any other cards are dealt) is now six coins, which is more than the single coin bet on the original hand. If the dealer also hits a ten or an ace, your total bet becomes eight coins, which is too much to hope for in most cases. .
Another reason not to split kings is that it’s simply not something that’s done very often. In fact, according to some experts, it’s something that should only be done as a last resort when all other options have been exhausted and there’s no other way to improve your chances of winning the hand.
So why do casinos do it anyhow? It’s probably because of all the misconceptions about blackjack that circulate among players. One of these misconceptions is that splitting kings improves your chances of winning.
In reality, however, doing so only has a small impact on your chances of winning and typically only occurs when there are very few other options left on the table.
