Why Is Blackjack Called Black Jack?

Blackjack, also known as blackjack 21, is a casino game that is said to have originated in the early 1800s. The game is played with a standard deck of 52 playing cards. Each player is dealt two cards face down and then the remaining cards are placed on the table in front of the player. The objective of blackjack is to either achieve a hand that totals 21 or more, or to get rid of all your cards before you get 21.

If a player gets a hand totaling 21 or more, they are said to have hit and are awarded points. If a player gets rid of all their cards before getting 21, they are said to have bust and lose the game. Blackjack can be played for money or for points.
